During the last community transmission in 2020 there was a national lockdown and services were focused on Covid-19 measures. Many NCD programs and services were neglected. This resulted in many adverse effects in our patients with Chronic Diseases. MEMBERSHIP Members of the Alliance for Healthy Living are appointed on the basis that they support the fight against NCDs and promotes healthy food choices. Members, who, by breach of confidentiality or other matter, cause the Alliance for Healthy Living to be reduced in its effectiveness, may have their right to membership of the Alliance withdrawn. Such decisions may be made by the Alliance and will be followed up with written reasons for the decision. The Alliance reserves the right to terminate any member if the member is found in breach of the Code of Conduct outlined herein.

The Young Diabetes Health Camp is conducted annually by divisions to equip YPLDM with the knowledge to better manage their own health. The camp also gives an opportunity for people as far as Monasavu, or Natewa Bay in Cakaudrove to travel and meet with other young people living with the same condition. Many of these young diabetics face many challenges and lack self-esteem as they live in isolation with no peer support and assistance given. The project aims to equip every child with a glucometer, currently, assistance is given to underprivileged children around Fiji. With no database available with the Ministry of Health, Diabetes Fiji is liaising with respective sub-divisional hospitals and health centers to registers YPLDM below the age of 35years. As of today we have given out a total of 135 machines since 2014, and we registered more than 300 YPLDM around Fiji, with most registered in the central division followed by western division and then northern division. Young Diabetic communities to be empowered to take ownership of their diabetes through the creation of Young Diabetes Community Peer Groups (DCPG). It develops a sense of camaraderie enhances sharing of knowledge amongst peers and provides glucometer to assist monitoring and continuous care. The objective of the project is to reduce admission and readmission of YPLDM, reduce the early onset of complications and improve better health and wellbeing through social and emotional support. The Project has facilitated two training for its members in the Suva Nausori area. Currently, we enrolled 35 members in the Project below the age of 30years.
