Guiding Young Lives Towards Healthy Futures

Diabetes Fiji recently joined hands with the Sai Prema Foundation to focus on improving the lives of young people living with Type 1 diabetes. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by children and adolescents managing this condition, the partnership aims to provide targeted support, education, and resources to help them lead healthier and more independent lives. During the program, the educational session was conducted by Ms. Inger Wang from Australia, who is based at Sai Prema Foundation. The Methodist Church of Fiji holds its Annual Conference once a year, extending over the course of a week. For the 2024 event, Diabetes Fiji was invited to participate as part of the program. Diabetes remains a significant public health concern in Fiji, affecting people of all ages and placing an increasing burden on the healthcare system. In response to this challenge, Diabetes Fiji Inc. organized a community outreach program at Vatukarasa Village, within the Tikina of Taivugalei, on the 11th and 12th of August 2025.
